II. Organizational Context and Scope

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

IOM´s migration learning platform, E-Campus, is a global online platform that offers courses in three different e-learning modalities: self-paced courses, tutored and bi-modal. The platform hosts free and open courses, and specialized courses offered on demand or under bi-modal (a virtual course that complements a face to face course) modality.

 

IOM E-Campus has strengthened its capacities to develop e-learning courses in-house, without the need to hire external companies. The demand of courses and the team are growing. Consequently, there is a need to hire a Regional capacity building assistant

who can support the designers’ team and assure technical accuracy and quality standards of the courses.

Under the overall supervision of the Western Hemisphere Program Project Coordinator and direct supervision of the Technical Specialist, the selected person will be responsible for the following duties:

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 

  1. Contribute to develop contents to new e-learning courses and update existing ones in close collaboration with thematic specialists, technical experts, project managers and external partners;
  2. Review the coherence between scripts and the resulting e-learning courses designed in house by the E-Campus Team;
  3. Provide support in the assignment and supervision of E-Campus’ Team tasks;
  4. Provide support in managing E-Campus/client timelines and resources to ensure multiple priorities are managed successfully;
  5. Supervise consultants and vendors’ tasks;
  6. Monitor E-Campus website and ensure the update of its content with recent IOM’s publications and the newest e-learning courses;
  7. Draft contracts, terms of reference and project proposals and follow up on their process;
  8. Request and follow-up on vendor payments in accordance with IOM´s regulations;
  9. Monitor financial expenditures and plan project activities in line with available resources;
  10. Contribute to unit reporting and communications through drafting and editing producing/updating briefing notes, visibility products and project factsheets;
  11. Liaise with relevant stakeholders to promote E-Campus courses and e-learning developing services;
  12. Contribute to knowledge management initiatives;
  13. Participate in meetings as required;
  14. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

IV. Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Law, International Relations or any related discipline from an accredited academic institution with at least four years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • High school diploma with at least six years of relevant professional experience;
  • Knowledge on human rights and migration;
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office programs, social media, knowledge of SharePoint or other collaboration and knowledge management platforms is an advantage
  • Knowledge on e-learning and virtual learning programs and platforms, especially Articulate 360 and Moodle

 

Experience

 

  • Experience in management of work teams
  • Experience delivering complex products with multiple stakeholders and minimal supervision as well as practical experience of how-to multi-task, prioritize and work independently
  • Experience in developing contents to new e-learning courses and updating existing ones.
  • Experience in educational context or pedagogy.
  • Experience in researching and good knowledge of migration data sources and the use of data and statistics
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to timely understand the Program’s structure;
  • Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines;

Fluent in Spanish

Highly proficient in spoken and written English

 

Other IOM official language

Working knowledge of French is an advantage
