IOM interactive map will connect migrants with diaspora support

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) launched an interactive map that will allow migrants to identify diaspora organizations and the support services they can provide. Since the map will be a live resource, IOM has provided a link where organizations wishing to be indexed can fill out a form and include their basic information.

Mexico joins the governments that promote orderly, safe and dignified migration using the Migration Governance Indicators (MGI)

 

Mexico City - Mexico joined the 84 countries and 30 local authorities in the world that have begun to promote orderly, safe and responsible migration using the Migration Governance Indicators (MGI), created in 2015 by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to meet target 10.7 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mexico: UN agencies promote labor inclusion of migrants in the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic

 

Representatives of the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE) and four United Nations agencies agreed in November that greater labor inclusion of the migrants and the promotion of regular hiring programs can facilitate greater economic dynamism in the country during the economic recovery from the situation caused by COVID-19.

Governments and local organizations will be able to receive training on migration information models with a free IOM course

The International Organization for Migration launched the online course "Information Hubs on Migration". The course is free, open to the public and 100% virtual through IOM's E-Campus platform. The main function of the hubs, located in the facilities of municipalities and other local instances, is to provide current, potential or returned migrants with access to reliable information on regular migration channels and to direct them to existing services in the community, to facilitate their protection, integration or reintegration, as the case may be.

Central American countries, Mexico and the Dominican Republic meet to analyze the regional situation of human trafficking

Closing an atypical year, the Regional Coalition against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (CORETT) held a virtual meeting during the week of November 23 to analyze the work done in 2020 and to propose the objectives of the Coalition for 2021. RCM countries discuss migration management and responses to massive migration flows, known as "caravans"

 

In a series of virtual sessions facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), between November 16 and 17, the member countries of the Regional Conference on Migration (RCM) met to promote technical dialogue to strengthen knowledge and procedures, so that the preparation and response to massive migration flows are given within the framework of efficient migration management without neglecting respect for the human rights of migrants.

Mexico: IOM and its Partners Facilitate Access to Regular and Safe Migration in Times of COVID-19

The “Migrating Informed” campaign has been launched in southern Mexico. It is an initiative presented last Tuesday on Facebook Live by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Migration Institute (INM) and the organization Doctors of the World to promote the different mechanisms created to support migrants in Tapachula, Chiapas in the context caused by the pandemic.
