Children in Nicaragua learn about migration with IOM Pedagogical Suitcase
Rivas, Nicaragua. Forty primary school students at the José Antonio Ruiz School, in the city of Rivas, shared a morning of migration-related activities based on the Pedagogical Suitcase developed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The event was co-organized with civil society organizations: Save the Children, the Young Women Migrants Group and the Sonia Bello Women's House.
Governments of Central America Strengthen Capacities to Protect Migrant Workers
About 40 officials from central and local governments of El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico met this week (12/09) in Guatemala to participate in a workshop on the protection of migrants. IOM Promotes Regular, Orderly, and Safe Migration using the Educational Toolkit in Honduras
San Pedro Sula- The United Nations’ Organization for Migration (IOM) presented the Educational Toolkit to teachers in the department of Cortés and staff from the organization Youth Against Violence of Honduras. The toolkit contains fun and interactive activities which inform and raise awareness about the risks of irregular migration.
IOM trains officials of Costa Rican public institutions on migration and health, childhood, and adolescence
As a part of its Mesoamerica Program, IOM has developed training workshops with officials of public institutions on a variety of migration-related topics. This month they held workshops on migration and health with officials from the Ministry of Public Health, and also conducted the National Course on Migrant Children 2018, for staff of the National Child Agency (PANI).
Young People in Tenosique Raised Awareness on Migration Using IOM's Educational Toolkit
Mexico. On August 11, 2018, the group Youth and Migration Tenosique, known as “JUMI Tenosique”, conducted a festival in honor of the “International Youth Day”, August 12. The festival was supported by the International Organization for Migration of the United Nations (IOM) through the Mesoamerica Program, the Directorate of Education, Culture, and Recreation of the city council of Tenosique, and RET International.
