IOM supports the proposal of special law on work permits in Honduras

Tegucigalpa, November 11, 2019.- The International Organization for Migration (IOM), with technical support from the International Labor Organization (ILO), is assisting the Secretariat of Labor and Social Security of the Republic of Honduras in the process of drafting a proposal for a Special Law on Labor Authorization for Foreign Nationals in Honduras, with the goal of facilitating the integration of migrants into the Honduran labor market.

The IADB and IOM offer specialized virtual courses on migration governance and management

A partnership between the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), within the frameworks of the IABD's Migration Initiative and IOM’s Regional Migration Capacity-Building Program, will enable officials in Latin America and the Caribbean to complete free virtual trainings on topics related to migration governance and management and earn certificates.

The countries of the Regional Coalition against Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling (CORETT) identified over 1,300 victims of human trafficking in 2018

The plenary meeting of the Regional Coalition against Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling (CORETT) was held November 19-21 in the Dominican Republic, with participation from representatives of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Belize, and the Dominican Republic.

Counter Trafficking in Persons (CTiP) in Humanitarian Settings

Humanitarian crises may exacerbate pre-existing trafficking trends and give rise to new ones. This course is designed for humanitarian personnel and government actors in a top-down and bottom-up approache to understand human trafficking, identify and assist victims of trafficking, prevent trends from worsening, and integrate CTiP activities before, during, and after an emergency response.

Introduction to the International Recruitment Integrity System

This course provides participants with an overview of the International Recruitment Integrity System (IRIS).  This includes information on what ethical recruitment looks like in practice and what labour recruiters need to demonstrate in their management systems to be IRIS certified. While this course has been designed primarily for labour recruiters, it is relevant for anyone seeking more information on IRIS.
