Tamaulipas adopts course of action to improve on migration governance
In order to improve the attention to migrants in Tamaulipas, the state government, through the Tamaulipas Institute for Migrants (ITM), voluntarily joined the implementation of the Migration Governance Indicators (MGI), a methodology developed by IOM, which has served as the basis for the report.
Thousands of people have strengthened their skills to identify deceptions and myths about migration, thanks to IOM campaigns
Under the principle that collectively built campaigns can help generate behavioral changes, 12 communities in 6 countries designed and now disseminate information campaigns that were adapted to the local context according to their particularities and needs. These campaigns are not satisfied with simply launching messages in mass media or social networks but have implemented community activities as a key element to trigger action.

In Guatemala, the Hubs are adapted to different community contexts to ensure that the migrant or potential migrant population receives reliable information, guidance on migration procedures and referrals to local services. A team from the International Organization for Migration toured the country, identifying best practices and how they are adapted to each context.
IOM Presents Curaçao Needs Assessment on Migration Governance
Among the main needs identified were the need to create, implement and coordinate a migration policy and strategy focused on the socioeconomic integration of migrants and to improve capacities for dealing with migrants who are detained. In the area of protection and assistance, the protection of asylum seekers was identified as an area for improvement, as well as the importance of guaranteeing humanitarian assistance to migrants through comprehensive policies that are reflected in greater access to employment, health, and human development.
Campaign launched to strengthen labour rights of migrant border workers
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Guatemala, the National Institute of Migration (INM) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Mexico, together with the International Organization for Migration, are launching the campaign "For the labour rights of Guatemalan migrant border workers", to inform and raise awareness among the Guatemalan population about the importance of working regularly in Mexico and to promote the use of the Border Worker Visitor Card (TVTF).

El Salvador launches Labor Market Information System (LMIS) with support from IOM and ILO
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) together with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MTPS) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), presented the Labor Market Information System of El Salvador (SIMEL) on December 1, 2021. This is a virtual tool that allows the production, storage, dissemination and use of information on this market and contributes to the knowledge of labour migration indicators, as well as to the formulation of evidence-based policies and strategies.
The Dominican Republic and Haiti met at the Cross-Border Dialogue Table between Pedernales and Anse-À-Pitres.
55 people representing 35 organizations located in Pedernales and Anse-À-Pitres attended to the activity. Among the items on the agenda was the analysis of the context from the country perspective. Both Haiti and the Dominican Republic presented the problems and situations of their countries, focusing mainly on what is happening in the border communities in the area.
Key government officials from five countries participated in a regional exchange on the implementation of bilateral labour migration programs
Over 35 government officials from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, representing the ministries of foreign affairs, labour, health, agriculture and migration institutes, successfully concluded a four-day experience exchange on labour migration programs.
IOM promotes crisis communication in emergency contexts that includes migrants
Following the statement that "a message communicated in time can save a person's life", the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has developed the Practical Guide for Communicating in the Context of Migratory Crises. This seeks to strengthen the capacities of States and various actors to ensure the inclusion of migrants in emergency prevention, preparedness and response systems, while safeguarding their dignity and rights.
