Municipalities from the Northern and Southern borders of Mexico exchanged best practices on migration

The Mexican municipalities of Tapachula ad Tijuana, border cities with Guatemala and the Unites States respectively, organized, with the support of IOM, a second meeting on the 13th and 14th of December 2017 to exchange experiences and best practices from each border.

8 countries outlined a new period of cooperation on Migration with the Mesoamerica Program

IOM, the UN Migration Agency, developed a needs-assessments study in each of the eight countries of the Mesoamerica region to establish with state institutions and civil society organizations the annual cooperation priorities of the Mesoamerica Program, oriented towards capacity-building of institutions for orderly, safe and regular migration.

Online Training Course for Consular Staff on Assistance to Nationals Affected by Crisis Abroad

Recent humanitarian crises have shown that migrants are often among those suffering the most during crisis situations caused by conflicts or natural disasters. With increasing international mobility and an unprecedented number of people displaced by conflicts, violence and disasters, most countries host some type of migrant population. In Mesoamerica there are more than 2 million immigrants.

The prevention of trafficking in persons in high schools: the experience of Chiapas, Mexico

125 students from the 4th Preparatory in Tapachula (Chiapas) received on the 15th of November an awareness-raising talk about trafficking in persons, in the framework of the prevention activities developed by the Inter-Institutional Committee on Trafficking in Persons in Tapachula, led by the National Institute for Migration with the support of the Mesoamerica Program.
